Helicopter Crash in Minnesota Kills All On Board
A helicopter accident occurred Saturday afternoon in a rural area of Minnesota, resulting in the fatalities of everyone aboard. The Robinson R66 helicopter went down around 2:45 p.m. near Lakeville, just west of Airlake Airport, less than ten minutes after departing from Sky Park Airport in Lydia.
Initial reports from authorities indicate that the helicopter crashed under unknown circumstances and was destroyed by a subsequent fire. No survivors were found at the scene, and the total number of individuals on board has not been publicly confirmed.
The aircraft, capable of carrying one pilot and up to four passengers, was en route to Airlake Airport after taking off at approximately 2:35 p.m. Flight data shows that it reached an altitude of 2,000 feet before rapidly descending and crashing in a remote area near Highway Avenue and 219th Street West, about 25 miles south of Minneapolis.
Fortunately, police confirmed that no additional injuries occurred. An official investigation is underway, with an NTSB investigator traveling to the scene and expected to arrive by Sunday afternoon. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is also involved in the ongoing inquiry.
