Michigan Doctor Arrested in Child Exploitation Sting
A Michigan doctor was taken into custody following an undercover investigation where authorities alleged he was seeking a sexual relationship with a young child. The police report indicates that Dr. William Murdoch engaged in illicit messaging with an undercover officer posing as the mother of a 5-year-old girl, attempting to arrange a sexual encounter.
During the operation, Murdoch was reportedly caught exchanging disturbing messages that detailed plans to groom the child and turn the situation sexual. The conversations included explicit discussions about causing birth defects through drug and alcohol use, abortion, and other alarming content. Authorities stated that Murdoch’s professional training as a physician was used to facilitate his dark online activities.
After forensic analysis of Murdoch’s digital devices, investigators discovered additional conversations revealing his broader dark web pursuits. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he faces charges related to soliciting a parent’s consent for a child’s participation in sexual acts. Murdoch is expected to be extradited to Florida, where he will face prosecution.
Murdoch was employed as an Associate Director for Family Medicine Resident at Monroe Regional Hospital in Michigan. The hospital, operated by ProMedica, responded swiftly; stating that they immediately suspended Murdoch’s privileges and terminated all professional activities after learning of his arrest.
