Ruben Amorim Plans Team Bonding Trips for Man United After Carabao Cup Exit
Ruben Amorim Plans Overseas Team Bonding Trips for Manchester United Players
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is considering organizing training and bonding trips abroad for his squad during the season, taking advantage of the team’s lighter fixture list.
The club was recently eliminated from the Carabao Cup by League Two side Grimsby, and with no European competitions last season, United’s match schedule is significantly reduced. They are set to play only one midweek fixture before Christmas, a home game against West Ham on December 3.
This schedule provides extra time for team preparation, prompting club officials and Amorim to explore short overseas training camps. Destinations like Portugal’s Algarve or locations in the Middle East are under consideration, aiming to boost team spirit and give players a change of environment away from their usual training base, Carrington.

The manager highlighted the benefits of the US tour this summer, where players bonded off the pitch. A leadership team comprising Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martínez, Diogo Dalot, Tom Heaton, and Noussair Mazraoui has been tasked with maintaining discipline and engaging with fans during matches.
While the club supports the idea of such trips, plans for similar journeys during international breaks have been dismissed, as many players will be away with their national teams.
After a slow start to the season with only one win, one draw, and one loss in the first three league matches, Amorim hopes to leverage the upcoming international break. Following their 3-2 victory over Burnley, he expressed optimism: “The two-week period will be beneficial. It gives us numerous opportunities to improve and prepare for upcoming matches against Fulham and Arsenal.”
