Ashley Biden Opens Up About Family Struggles and Her Father’s Cancer Battle
Ashley Biden Reflects on Challenging Summer Amid Family Health and Personal Changes
Ashley Biden, the daughter of former President Joe Biden, recently shared that the past few weeks have been among the most difficult of her life. She cited her recent divorce and her father’s ongoing battle with cancer as sources of hardship during this challenging period.
On social media, Ashley expressed gratitude for her family’s support and her own resilience. She posted a heartfelt message accompanied by photos of herself, loved ones, and cherished moments with her father. She wrote, “August 2025 was one of the hardest summers of my life,” but also noted her readiness to embrace a new season of growth and renewal, saying, “I’m preparing for the fall and the RISE 🦋.”
Her post came shortly after she filed for divorce from her husband, Dr. Howard Krein, a plastic surgeon, after more than 13 years of marriage. Ashley also shared a photo suggesting her husband was seen with another woman, captioning it, “My husband and his girlfriend holding hands,” which drew attention online. The couple had married in Greenville, Delaware, in 2012, with their relationship reportedly initiated by her late brother, Beau Biden.
In addition to personal upheaval, Ashley has faced family health concerns. Her father, President Joe Biden, was diagnosed with aggressive stage 4 prostate cancer which has metastasized to his bones. A recent medical statement described the diagnosis as severe but hormone-sensitive, offering hope for effective treatment as the family reviews options.
Despite these difficulties, Ashley remains optimistic, sharing moments of connection with her family and finding strength in her journey toward healing and new beginnings.
