Court Proceedings in Kentucky: Cheerleader Denies Involvement in Infant’s Death

A university cheerleader is facing serious charges following the discovery of her newborn’s body in her campus residence. The infant, identified as a male, was found inside a trash bag in Snelling’s dorm room, though the cause of death remains undetermined pending autopsy results.

Wearing a striking red dress and makeup, 21-year-old Laken Snelling appeared in court supported by her father. She pleaded not guilty to allegations including concealing a birth, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse. She was released on bail set at $100,000, with a court order requiring her to stay in her parents’ home during the investigation.

Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn emphasized that authorities are conducting a thorough investigation, stating, “We are carefully examining all facts surrounding this case.”

Former classmates have painted a darker picture of Snelling, describing her as “appearance-obsessed” and a “serial bully,” who allegedly assaulted a peer with her Jeep and bullied others during high school. One former classmate recounted how Snelling once attempted to run over a friend, leading to the friend transferring out of school to escape her bullying.
