Trump Mulls Revoking Rosie O’Donnell’s US Citizenship

Trump Considers Revoking Rosie O’Donnell’s US Citizenship

President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he is seriously contemplating removing actress and comedian Rosie O’Donnell’s U.S. citizenship—a claim he has made before, though it’s legally impossible since she was born in the U.S.

“As previously stated, we are giving strong consideration to stripping Rosie O’Donnell’s citizenship. She does not exemplify the qualities of a great American,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. He had previously suggested in July that O’Donnell’s citizenship was a threat to the country’s interests.

O’Donnell, who was born in Commack, New York, and has Irish grandparents, recently moved to Ireland with her daughter and is in the process of acquiring Irish citizenship, citing political concerns as her reason for relocating. She stated on TikTok, “Once it’s safe for all Americans to have equal rights, we’ll think about returning.”

Legal experts agree that the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment grants citizenship to anyone born in the country, making Trump’s idea of revoking her citizenship impossible.

Trump and O’Donnell’s feud dates back nearly twenty years, notably sparked by her criticism of him during “The View” in 2006 over his lenient treatment of a Miss USA contestant accused of drug use. Trump also once publicly dismissed her during a 2015 debate, saying, “Only Rosie O’Donnell.”

Most recently, O’Donnell commented on a tragic school shooting in Minneapolis, suggesting the shooter was linked to MAGA supporters and white supremacy, which she later apologized for after removing a video where she made these claims.

O’Donnell remains a vocal critic of Trump’s politics and policies, and her recent moves reflect her stance on the current political climate.
