Travis Kelce Breaks Silence on Taylor Swift Engagement on ‘New Heights’
Travis Kelce Reflects on Engagement to Taylor Swift
Travis Kelce, the star tight end of the Kansas City Chiefs, revealed the excitement surrounding his recent engagement to Taylor Swift during an episode of his podcast “New Heights.” The 35-year-old athlete shared how special it has been to announce to others that he will spend his life with the pop superstar, expressing gratitude for the well-wishes from fans and friends.
He described the moment of calling Taylor his fiancée at a recent college football game, noting how it felt “really cool” to introduce her as such to his teammates. Kelce also offered advice on proposing, emphasizing the importance of knowing your partner well and doing it in a way that feels authentic to both of you. “Everything else will be beautiful,” he added.
Kelce shared that he and Swift announced their engagement with a social media post last week, showing pictures of their proposal at his estate in Leawood, Kansas, a few weeks before making the news public. He revealed he took six to eight months to plan the perfect ring, co-designing it with jeweler Kindred Lubeck. His fiancé was reportedly eager for the ring, with Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, mentioning she was “a little antsy” during the planning process.
Kelce also recounted his experience interviewing Swift on “New Heights,” which he said was challenging but made easier with help from his brother, Jason Kelce. Fans suspect the proposal occurred during the episode filming, based on subtle clues in Swift’s appearance, which were later confirmed.
In addition to personal details, Travis revealed that he asked Taylor’s father, Scott Swift, for permission to marry her about a month before the proposal, a gesture he considers important. The couple began dating in summer 2023 after Kelce jokingly “shot his shot” following a failed attempt to give Taylor his number at a concert.
