Trump Revokes Kamala Harris’ Secret Service Detail
President Trump Ends Security Detail for Vice President Harris
President Donald Trump has officially revoked the Secret Service security detail assigned to Vice President Kamala Harris, which had been extended by the previous administration. Harris’s security was scheduled to conclude on July 21, following the standard six-month period granted to former vice presidents. However, President Biden had extended her protection for an additional year before his term ended.
On Thursday, Trump signed an order to terminate Harris’s Secret Service detail, which is now set to end on September 1. The decision came as Harris prepares to launch a book tour related to her unsuccessful bid for the 2024 presidential race, after President Biden withdrew from the contest.
A formal notice stated: “You are hereby authorized to discontinue any security-related procedures previously authorized by Executive Memorandum, beyond those required by law, for the following individual, effective September 1, 2025: Former Vice President Kamala D. Harris.”
The reasons for the extension remain unclear, but reports suggest factors such as her candidacy, race, and gender might have influenced the decision. The move comes amid ongoing political developments and Harris’s efforts to engage publicly in her roles.
