Shania Twain Celebrates 60th Birthday with Nostalgic Photos and Reflection on Self-Acceptance
Country-pop star Shania Twain marked her 60th birthday with a throwback post highlighting her iconic style from the late ’90s. Wearing a simple white shirt and black underwear, she paid homage to her hit song, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”, with lyrics from the track in the background of her photo.
The singer also shared a nostalgic black-and-white image from the 1980s, depicting herself in a sparkling blue suit and teased hairstyle, capturing a moment before her rise to fame. She reflected, “So glad to have kept some photos from this time in the 80s when I had no idea what was ahead of me, and Shania f—ing Twain didn’t exist yet.”
Twain expressed gratitude for her life, writing, “I’m grateful for my family, friends, fans, and the inspiration I receive from all of you,” adding her commitment to staying true to herself as she enters the next chapter.
In a recent interview, Twain discussed her journey toward self-acceptance, recalling her realization of her womanhood through fashion and self-image. “When I looked behind the camera, I thought, ‘Wow, I’m actually a woman,’ and I think I might like it,” she shared. “’Man! I Feel Like a Woman!’ was a celebration of empowerment, and it made me feel safe and confident behind the scenes.”
Despite her confidence, Twain acknowledged that her body doesn’t match the idealized standards of a supermodel, emphasizing the importance of embracing her real self. “You can wish away your flaws, but it’s better to get real with yourself,” she said. Her openness mirrors her sentiments from earlier last year, where she discussed feeling liberated in sharing her authentic self and her body in her 50s.
“This is me expressing my truth. I’m comfortable in my own skin, and sharing this confidence is my way of embracing who I am,” she concluded.
