Cheryl Burke Apologizes for Using Gunshot Sound After Minnesota School Shooting
Cheryl Burke Apologizes for Sharing Inappropriate Post Amid Tragic School Shooting
Cheryl Burke has issued an apology after posting a video on social media that included gunfire sounds, shortly after a fatal school shooting in Minnesota. The “Dancing With the Stars” alum explained that she was unaware of the tragedy when she shared the video and quickly removed it out of respect for those affected.
In a heartfelt message, Burke stated, “Less than an hour ago, I shared a video that featured the sound of a gun. I had no idea at the time about the school shooting in Minneapolis, which resulted in multiple casualties. I have already taken down the post out of respect for the victims and their families.”
She expressed regret, acknowledging that her action may have caused pain or retraumatization to those impacted by the event. “I am truly sorry,” she added, “and I take full responsibility. This incident reminded me to be more mindful of the timing and potential impact of my content.”
Burke also extended her prayers to the victims and their families following the shooting, where suspect Robin Westman shot and killed at least two children and injured 17 others at a Catholic school before dying by suicide.
Recognizing that words cannot undo the harm, Burke emphasized her commitment to more awareness moving forward. Her followers responded to her apology with understanding, offering support and encouraging her not to feel guilty for sharing the post in ignorance of the tragedy.
In her caption, Burke reiterated, “I am deeply sorry for my earlier post. I was unaware of the school shooting today and have since removed it. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected.”
