Security Guard Stabbed While Confronting Shoplifter in Midtown Manhattan
A security guard at a Duane Reade in Midtown Manhattan was injured after being stabbed by a shoplifter attempting to steal a soda. The incident occurred Thursday around 3 p.m. on Third Avenue and East 52nd Street.
According to police, the store employee noticed the suspect trying to steal a can of soda and approached him. An argument ensued, during which the individual stabbed the guard in the hand and shoulder. The attacker then fled the scene and remained at large late into the evening. It remains uncertain if the suspect successfully took the soft drink.
The police reported that the guard is in stable condition following the attack.
