Christina Applegate Reveals Her MS Diagnosis Awaits Her Daughter’s Support
Christina Applegate Opens Up About Her MS Battle and Its Impact on Her Daughter
Actress Christina Applegate has spoken openly about how her fight with multiple sclerosis has deeply affected her 14-year-old daughter, Sadie. On her podcast, she described moments where her symptoms prevent her from even moving down the hallway to say goodnight, which she says has been heartbreaking for Sadie.
“I see her look at me when I’m in bed, unable to move properly, and I want to be with her but I can’t,” Applegate shared. “It has really broken her.”
Before her diagnosis in 2021, Sadie knew her mother as a healthy, active person—someone who ran, danced, and used a Peloton. However, the diagnosis changed that dynamic. “She was stoic at first, not knowing what was happening, and it felt like she was losing the mom she knew,” Applegate explained.
She added that as Sadie has grown older, the pain from witnessing her mother’s health struggles has increased. The pandemic coincided with this transition, making things even more challenging for the family.
Despite the hardships, Applegate expressed gratitude for her daughter’s support. Sadie often helps her navigate her anxiety and mobility issues, holding her arm when they are out or assisting at home with daily tasks.
Applegate, who shared her diagnosis publicly in 2021, continues to update her fans on her health journey. Recently, she revealed she was hospitalized with severe pain due to infections in her kidneys, which she discussed during a podcast recorded from her hospital bed.
Through these challenges, she remains appreciative of her daughter’s presence and support, finding moments of beauty amid her difficult health journey.
