Carabao Cup Third-Round Draw Announced: Newcastle to Defend Title Against League One Opponent

Newcastle United will begin their title defense in the Carabao Cup with a home fixture against Bradford City in the upcoming third round. The draw, which was announced recently, also revealed the opponents for other top Premier League teams in European competitions.

Those going into Europe learned their third-round matchups ahead of the rest of the Premier League clubs. Notably, Liverpool will host Southampton, Arsenal will face Port Vale, and Chelsea will travel to Lincoln. Other notable matches include Crystal Palace competing against Millwall, while last season’s giant-killers Grimsby Town are set to face Sheffield Wednesday away.

In all-Premier League encounters, Brentford will clash with Aston Villa, and Wolverhampton Wanderers will host Everton. Manchester City is scheduled to visit Huddersfield Town, and Tottenham Hotspur will play Doncaster Rovers in what could be a tricky tie for the new Spurs boss, Thomas Frank. Meanwhile, Brighton, after a 6-0 win over Oxford in the previous round, will travel to Barnsley.
