Sky Sports Presenter Reveals ‘Uncomfortable’ Post-Match Exchange with Star
Sky Sports Presenter Clarifies On-Air Mistake During Post-Match Interview
A Sky Sports Germany presenter addressed an awkward moment during a recent football broadcast following a mix-up involving a player from Werder Bremen.
The incident occurred after Eintracht Frankfurt’s opening Bundesliga match against Werder Bremen, which they won with goals from Can Uzun, Jean-Matteo Bahoya, and Ansgar Knauff, securing three points for the team.
During the post-match interview, presenter Katharina Kleinfeldt mistakenly spoke to Marco Friedl, a Werder Bremen defender and captain, instead of a Frankfurt player. The confusion arose because Friedl had swapped shirts with Michael Zetterer, a former Werder goalkeeper now with Frankfurt, after the match.
Initially, Kleinfeldt asked Friedl how he felt about the victory, but he quickly corrected her, stating he was still a Werder player. She apologized immediately for the mistake, noting that the Eintracht shirt had caused her momentary confusion.
Friedl expressed surprise at the incident, saying, “I’ve never experienced that before. That’s strange and a bit ridiculous.” Kleinfeldt later explained that she had confused Friedl with a Frankfurt player because of the shirt swap, which blurred her perception during the live broadcast.
The presenter is known for her appearances on German television and is in a relationship with Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl. She acknowledged her error and expressed her regret over the on-air mix-up.
The incident highlights the challenges of live broadcasting, especially when dealing with post-match shirt exchanges and player appearances, which can sometimes lead to humorous or embarrassing moments on air.
