Kylian Mbappe, the star forward for Real Madrid, has been released from hospital following his absence from the team’s first match in the expanded Club World Cup. The 26-year-old French international missed the game against Al-Hilal due to acute gastroenteritis.

His omission was a surprise, particularly as it was the first starting lineup announced by new manager Xabi Alonso. Despite his absence, Madrid managed to secure a 1-1 draw, with Federico Valverde missing a late penalty that could have won the game.

Following the match, the club clarified that Mbappe was taken to hospital for tests on the day of the game but has since rejoined the team’s training camp. Recent updates confirm that he is in the team hotel, performing aerobic exercises as part of his recovery.

Alonso provided an update on Mbappe’s condition, noting that the player felt slightly better in the morning but was not fit enough to play due to the hot weather and ongoing illness. The coach indicated that a decision about his participation in the next match would be made later, expressing uncertainty if Mbappe would be ready for the upcoming fixture against Pachuca.

In Mbappe’s absence, Gonzalo Garcia, a 21-year-old striker, started the game, scoring the opening goal before Ruben Neves equalized for Madrid. The team’s next match is scheduled for Sunday against Pachuca in North Carolina, followed by a final group stage game against Red Bull Salzburg in Philadelphia.
