Exclusive: Man Remains Free Despite Allegations of Terrorizing NYC Women for Months
Recidivist Offender Terrorizes Women in Queens Despite Multiple Arrests
A man with a long criminal history and a rough appearance has been allegedly harassing women and girls in Queens over the past three months, residents and victims report. The individual, identified as Mallik Miah, 31, has a history of 41 arrests since 2010, including charges related to assault, weapon possession, drugs, burglary, and forcible touching.
Miah, who has been seen frequenting the area since May, was arrested twice for recent incidents but was released both times due to charges not qualifying for bail. Victims describe him as sneaky and aggressive, often approaching from behind and making inappropriate remarks or contact.
Jessica, who asked to remain anonymous, reported being assaulted at a subway station in May. She recounted, “He came up the stairs and assaulted me. I yelled at him and ran away out of fear.” Despite reporting the incident, Miah was released shortly after his arrest.
Other encounters include a woman and her young daughter who saw him chasing a woman and her 13-year-old on a Brooklyn subway, and another woman who described his inappropriate behavior in a store. Several witnesses noted that Miah exhibits aggressive, creepy behavior and has approached them with disturbing comments.
Despite multiple police interventions, Miah remains at large. His latest incident involved chasing customers at a clothing store, leading to another arrest for trespassing and harassment—only to be released again due to bail eligibility laws.
Residents fear his continued presence poses a serious threat, worrying he may escalate to worse violence. Public concern grows over the effectiveness of current bail reform laws in detaining repeat offenders like Miah. Authorities have yet to comment further, and Miah’s legal representation did not respond to inquiries.
