Elon Musk to Launch New Political Party
Elon Musk Pauses Plans for New Political Party to Preserve GOP Ties
Elon Musk is reportedly delaying the launch of his proposed “America Party” to maintain strong connections with key Republican figures, particularly Vice President JD Vance, whom Musk is considering supporting in the 2028 presidential race.
Initially, Musk announced that the party aimed to challenge the two-party system, but according to sources close to him, he prefers to focus on his business ventures rather than divert voters from established Republicans. The Tesla CEO is especially eager to stay aligned with Vance, who many believe may take a leading role in the future MAGA movement after President Trump’s term ends.
Maintaining this relationship is crucial for Musk, who has invested heavily in Republican campaigns, spending nearly $300 million during the 2024 elections to support Trump and other GOP candidates. Despite the pause, Musk has not ruled out creating the new party and is waiting to see how the 2026 midterm elections unfold, according to his allies.
Musk previously threatened to start a new political movement amid a public feud with Trump over the Big Beautiful Bill Act, which Musk criticized heavily. He initially targeted key Senate and House seats for challenge and vowed to support primary challengers against Republicans backing the legislation.
Trump responded by threatening to revoke federal contracts Musk’s companies hold, escalating tensions. Musk, who once was involved in government effort to cut costs, has emphasized his goal to reduce the national deficit but has since stepped back from political disputes to focus on his enterprises.
Although Musk and Trump seem to have cooled their conflicts temporarily, Vance could significantly benefit from Musk’s financial support and influence should he seek high office.
Vance’s team has indicated he hopes Musk will re-engage with conservative efforts by the midterm elections, and Musk dismissed recent reports, stating, “Nothing @WSJ says should ever be thought of as true.”
