Kelly Clarkson Feels Guilty Over Ex-Husband Brandon Blackstock’s D:ea:th: Report
Kelly Clarkson Reflects on Her Ex-Husband’s Death and Its Possible Emotional Impact
Kelly Clarkson is reportedly experiencing feelings of guilt following the recent passing of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, raising questions about whether the stress stemming from their tumultuous divorce may have affected his health.
Blackstock, who was married to Clarkson from October 2013 until their divorce in March 2022, died earlier this month at age 48 after a private, three-year battle with melanoma, an aggressive skin cancer.
A source close to Clarkson commented, “Kelly is aware that stress can influence physical health and potentially make someone more susceptible to illnesses like cancer.”
While Clarkson doesn’t blame herself, she is conscious of the pressure caused by the divorce proceedings and ongoing lawsuits, and how they might have weighed on him during his illness.
Another insider added that Clarkson, known for her time on American Idol, has not dwelled on what impact her divorce might have had but admits it crosses her mind. She feels remorseful for not doing more, even though she recognizes such feelings are unrealistic.
Following Blackstock’s diagnosis, Clarkson felt compelled to prioritize her children—daughter River, 11, and son Remington, 9—and focused on keeping their well-being at the forefront, which has been helping her cope emotionally.
Background on Their Separation and Legal Disputes
Clarkson filed for divorce in June 2020, with her ex-husband serving as her talent manager during their marriage. She was awarded primary custody of their children but was required to pay substantial spousal and child support. The couple also contested their Montana ranch, which Clarkson ultimately retained. Additionally, Clarkson sued Blackstock for overcharging when he handled her career, and he was ordered to return $2.6 million.
Personal Efforts and Ongoing Reflection
Clarkson is channeling her emotions into her dedication to her children, emphasizing that their support brings her strength during these challenging times.
