Juror Shocks with Verdict: Was Karen Read Really Innocent or Were Major Holes Ignored?
Juror Claims Confidence in Karen Read’s Innocence Amid Mixed Jury Opinions
One juror asserts that Karen Read is entirely “innocent” of causing the death of her Boston police officer boyfriend, John O’Keefe, despite the mixed opinions of the jury members during her second trial.
Juror Jason revealed to TMZ that the panel was divided—some believed she was clearly innocent, while others felt there was enough reasonable doubt to favor an acquittal on the most severe charges. Interestingly, initially, several jurors considered the possibility of her guilt before reaching a consensus.
Although investigators were criticized for a “poor investigation,” Jason explained that this lack of thoroughness was a factor in the jury’s unanimous decision, as authorities failed to prove she struck O’Keefe with her Lexus. Despite this, Jason emphasized that his own decision was not influenced by the reasonable doubt argument.
Jason also referenced the tense environment outside court, where supporters gathered. He stated the presence of Read’s fans added extra pressure but ultimately did not affect the jury’s deliberations.
He remains uncertain about how O’Keefe died, acknowledging that he does not see evidence of any police misconduct or corruption that might have led to her being framed. He emphasized that, in his view, the police lacked sufficient proof to convict Read of murder or manslaughter.
Read was only convicted of driving under the influence and received a one-year probation, despite facing serious charges including second-degree murder, manslaughter, and leaving the scene.
