Tenant Claims Trump Tower Landlord Stole $7K Hermes Bag After Rent Owed
Resident Alleges Landlord Stole $7,000 Hermes Bag During Eviction
A resident of Trump Tower claims her landlord stole her luxury possessions, including a $7,000 Hermes bag, after she fell behind on rent payments. Interior designer Sehra Waheed, 46, had secured a high-end two-bedroom apartment on the 18th floor of the tower in Turtle Bay in November 2022, paying $7,500 per month. However, her stay turned problematic when her promised business loan fell through, leaving her unable to keep up with payments.
Waheed’s legal battle with her landlord, Trinity Bui, culminated in December 2023 when eviction proceedings ordered her eviction, leading to movers arriving at the property. It was during this process that Waheed alleges her belongings were stolen, including her designer items such as a Chanel dress and purse, antiques, porcelain, and her prized Hermes Kelly bag.
Waheed describes the theft as a traumatic experience, claiming her purse was taken in retaliation for unpaid rent. She also accuses Bui of colluding with storage facility managers, paying them to auction off her property illegally. Court documents describe Bui’s conduct as “extreme and outrageous,” surpassing acceptable limits in a civilized society. Both Bui and the Trump Corporation are named defendants in a lawsuit seeking $1.5 million in damages.
Bui has denied accusations of theft, labeling Waheed a “con artist” and “scammer,” asserting that Waheed did not pay any rent beyond her security deposit and that no items were damaged or missing during eviction. Bui criticized Waheed’s reputation for suing people for extortion without paying her bills.
