Mom Who Sought Help for Missing Son Charged After His Body Is Found
Mother Charged After Missing Boy’s Body Is Found in Kentucky
A woman who initially pleaded for help in finding her missing 10-year-old son has now been arrested after his remains were discovered buried in a shallow grave. The recovery took place in a wooded area of rural Breathitt County, Kentucky, six days after the boy was reported missing.
Authorities identified the boy as Jayden Spicer. His mother, 33-year-old Felicia Gross, was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including manslaughter, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and filing a false report.
Gross had earlier given a handwritten plea to the media, desperately asking for assistance in locating Jayden. In her note, she expressed love for her son and urged anyone with information to contact the police, asking for prayers for their family.
On the night of August 5, Jayden was reportedly seen going to bed but was not accounted for the following morning. An extensive search ensued around his home until a new tip led authorities to his remains, which were confirmed to be in a shallow grave after a search of the area reportedly used by investigators.
The boy’s body was sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. Police have not released further details about his cause of death, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Gross, who previously served time for endangering a minor, is currently held at the Kentucky River Regional Jail. Authorities indicate they are continuing their investigation and have not disclosed additional information about the circumstances surrounding Jayden’s death.
