California Police Recover $30K in Stolen Labubu Dolls
Labubu Dolls Recovered After Theft in California
Authorities in California have recovered fourteen boxes of the highly sought-after Labubu dolls, valued at approximately $30,000, after they were stolen from a warehouse last week. The plush collectibles were later found at a residence in Chino, and returned to their rightful owners.
Investigations suggest that the suspects intended to resell the dolls nationwide. The dolls, which resemble a cross between a Cabbage Patch Kid and an angelic creature with bunny ears and a blank stare, have surged in popularity, with some unique editions fetching hundreds or even thousands of dollars online.

In a separate incident, a store in La Puente reported having $30,000 worth of Labubu dolls stolen, but the items were returned last Friday, according to local authorities. The dolls soared in popularity over the summer, with retail prices for blind boxes reaching $27.99, and six-packs costing nearly $168.
Some rare editions have sold online for over $500, with one skateboard-themed Labubu from 2023 recently selling for an astonishing $10,500. Celebrities like Rihanna and Blackpink’s Lisa have also showcased their affinity for the dolls, often seen carrying them on handbags.
Since its debut in 2015, over 300 different Labubu versions have been released. However, counterfeit versions, dubbed Lafufu, have flooded the market, with stores offering cheaper imitations to capitalize on the craze.
