Sky Sports’ Bold Premier League Boost: ‘Super Sundays,’ Multiview Goals & Carragher’s New Role

Sky Sports Unveils Innovative Plan for Premier League Coverage

Sky Sports is set to overhaul its broadcasting approach for the upcoming Premier League season, introducing a range of new features designed to enhance viewer engagement. The broadcaster will transmit a total of 215 live matches, significantly increasing from 128 last season.

Among the new innovations is a “Multiview” format on Sundays, allowing four games to be broadcast simultaneously, with a dedicated presenting team switching between matches—similar to American Football coverage. This approach aims to provide fans with comprehensive coverage of multiple games at once. Matches that conflict with European competitions will commence at 2 pm on Sundays.

Sky will also launch “Super Sunday: Extra Time,” a reaction show hosted by Jamie Carragher, which will follow the end of the live matches. Kasabian, a Leicester-based band, will contribute the soundtrack for the new program.

The coverage team will include familiar faces, with Kelly Cates and Mark Chapman, who will also present Sky’s Saturday night show, joining the lineup. Chapman will expand his role to include Premier League fixtures alongside his existing commitments to the Carabao Cup. This move follows the departure of Gary Lineker, with Cates and Chapman filling new presenting roles alongside Gabby Logan.

Despite earlier concerns about continuing as a pundit, Roy Keane has been confirmed to stay on for another season. Fans can also expect the launch of the Fanalysis segment, where each Premier League club will be represented by a supporter, offering dedicated insights from within the clubs.

Sky Sports’ Chief Sports Officer, Jonathan Licht, described the upcoming season as a milestone, promising comprehensive coverage and innovative programming aimed at keeping fans connected to all the action across TV, social media, and digital platforms.
