Jack Grealish Joins Everton on Loan from Manchester City
Jack Grealish has officially transferred to Everton on a season-long loan from Manchester City, with the club holding an option to make the move permanent next year for £50 million. The England international, who previously struggled for playing time at City under Pep Guardiola, is eager to revitalize his career at Everton.
Grealish revealed that his decision was heavily influenced by his positive impression of the Everton manager and the club’s atmosphere. “When I spoke with the manager, I knew Everton was the only place I wanted to go. The support from fans on social media also played a big role in my choice,” he said.
He will wear the No 18 shirt, a number he chose as a tribute to English football legends Wayne Rooney and Paul Gascoigne, both of whom wore the same at Everton. Grealish explained that after confirming the deal, he discussed the number with Rooney, whom he had contacted beforehand.
Grealish underwent his medical on Monday before completing the signing on Tuesday. The move comes at a crucial time for the 29-year-old, who made only seven Premier League starts last season and hopes to earn a place in England’s squad for the upcoming World Cup. Everton manager David Moyes expressed confidence in Grealish’s abilities, stating, “He is experienced and understands the Premier League. We believe he can reach the heights he’s capable of.”
Grealish also noted his motivation to stay close to his family, which influenced his decision to transfer within the North West. He aims to make an immediate impact as Everton prepares for their season opener against Leeds United, hoping to display his best form and possibly secure a future pathway back to the England national team.
