Tragedy at NYC and Jersey Shores: Swimmers Drown in Separate Incidents

Tragic Incidents at New York and New Jersey Beaches

A woman lost her life after being rescued from the ocean at Brooklyn’s Manhattan Beach on Monday evening, as multiple drowning incidents occurred along the coastlines. The 55-year-old woman was pulled from the water by lifeguards around 6:15 p.m. after she was found unconscious and unresponsive. Despite efforts to revive her, she was pronounced dead upon arrival at Coney Island Hospital.

Footage captured by witnesses shows emergency responders rushing across the sand, carrying the woman to an ambulance amidst stunned onlookers. Authorities indicated that lifeguards, who patrol until 6 p.m., attempted CPR before the woman was transported. The cause of death is under investigation, with no suspicious circumstances suspected at this time.

Meanwhile, at a nearby Jersey Shore beach in Seaside Heights, a separate incident resulted in the death of a man after he and six others were caught in a rip current. The beach was marked with a “red flag” warning, restricting ocean activity to wading up to the knees due to hazardous conditions. Lifeguards, who leave their stations at 5 p.m., responded shortly after receiving reports of swimmers in distress around 7 p.m.

Rescue teams used a jet ski to reach the distressed swimmers, rescuing six individuals and retrieving a man who was found semi-submerged. Unfortunately, the man was declared dead after being taken to a local hospital in Toms River.
