New TV Pundit Announced to Replace Rio Ferdinand for Community Shield Coverage

The coverage of the upcoming Community Shield on TNT Sports will feature a new pundit, a former Premier League player who is currently a free agent, replacing Rio Ferdinand. Ferdinand, who had provided insights for the channel for over ten years, announced his departure in May to focus on his business ventures.

Ferdinand’s departure comes ahead of a high-profile match between reigning Premier League champions Liverpool and FA Cup winners Crystal Palace at Wembley, broadcast on TNT Sports instead of ITV.

The former Palace full-back Joel Ward has been named as Ferdinand’s replacement for this game. Ward recently left Crystal Palace after a 13-year spell, during which he made 364 appearances and was part of the team that achieved promotion to the Premier League in 2013. He was also an unused substitute during Palace’s FA Cup final victory last season and lifted the trophy alongside teammate Marc Guehi.
