Chad Michael Murray Opens Up About His Near-D:ea:th Health Scare
Chad Michael Murray Reflects on Near-Death Experience as a Teen
Actor Chad Michael Murray opened up about a life-threatening health crisis he faced at age 15. He revealed that his intestines had become twisted, leading to a prolonged hospital stay of two and a half months. Post-surgery, he endured internal bleeding, losing half of his blood, and narrowly escaped death.
“I was in and out of consciousness and still have vivid memories of the ordeal,” Murray shared. During his recovery, he recalled seeing his father noticeably weakened and a priest at his bedside, discussing last rites. A blood transfusion ultimately saved his life, though his organs temporarily shut down due to blood coagulation, prompting him to undergo a second operation to stabilize him.
The traumatic experience had a profound impact on him. It brought him closer to his father and deepened his spirituality. During his hospital stay, a nurse named Alana, who also worked as a model, encouraged him to pursue acting, believing he could transition from modeling to entertainment. Her support planted the seed for his future career.
When he finally left the hospital, Murray’s weight had plummeted from 180 to 118 pounds, leaving him unrecognizable and terrified by his reflection. This period marked a turning point, fostering a stronger relationship with his spirituality and family. Despite the physical toll, he expressed gratitude for the experience, which ultimately strengthened his faith and bond with his father.
