Pedri’s Honest Take on Real Madrid Rival Jude Bellingham

Revealed: What Barcelona Star Pedri Really Thinks of Jude Bellingham

Barcelona midfielder Pedri has shared his honest opinion about his Real Madrid rival, Jude Bellingham. Last season, Pedri played a key role in leading Barcelona to a domestic treble under coach Hansi Flick, winning two finals against Real Madrid and securing La Liga supremacy. Conversely, Real Madrid couldn’t defend their league and Champions League titles but succeeded in lifting the UEFA Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup.

In an interview, Pedri highlighted two Real Madrid players he holds in high regard. Speaking to France Football via Mundo Deportivo, he praised Kylian Mbappe’s unstoppable one-on-one abilities, and lauded Jude Bellingham as “really incredible,” noting his combination of physical strength and technical skill makes him extremely challenging to face.

Pedri also commented on Bellingham’s performance, which saw him score nine league goals last season, compared to Pedri’s four, and provide eight assists, more than Pedri’s five. While both midfielders created numerous chances (Pedri with 67, Bellingham with 40), Bellingham’s overall impact has been notable.

Both players were shortlisted for the 2025 Ballon d’Or, alongside other contenders like Rodri, last year’s winner. Pedri expressed that Rodri’s victory inspired him, emphasizing that midfielders’ roles should be more appreciated. He shared his optimism about potentially winning the award one day, noting that he’s motivated by the recognition of midfielders’ importance in the game.

Among Barcelona’s nominees for the Ballon d’Or are Pedri himself, teenage prodigy Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and Raphinha.
