Sky Sports Presenter Returns to Work After Battling Cancer and Brain Infection
Emma Saunders, a familiar face on Sky Sports, has made her comeback to television following a severe health ordeal that included a cancer diagnosis and a brain infection, which resulted in her being placed in a coma. Saunders, known for hosting Premier League coverage, first underwent treatment for thyroid cancer before being diagnosed with encephalitis, a serious brain infection.
Despite her challenging journey, Saunders has shown significant improvement and was seen back on air last weekend. Her partner, Will Still, recently left his coaching role in France’s Ligue 1 to be nearer to her. The Southampton head coach, aged 32, decided to resign from Lens and return to the UK after recognizing the importance of being close to Emma during her recovery. He signed a three-year contract with Southampton, emphasizing that being with Emma was his top priority.
Still shared that progress is ongoing, but Emma is recovering well enough to return to work, which has lifted her spirits and provided her with a newfound sense of control. The couple publicly revealed their relationship during Euro 2024, with Still making regular trips to stay with Emma in St Albans while continuing his coaching duties in France, trusting his brothers to manage in his absence.
Emma first disclosed her health struggles in March via Instagram. Her recovery has been encouraging, and she is expected to become a regular presence in Sky Sports’ coverage for the upcoming football season. Still reflected on the difficulties faced during her illness but expressed optimism about her continued progress and the comfort of being able to support her at home.
