The Long Island team has the chance to secure the regional championship title by defeating Fairfield National at 7 p.m. in Bristol, Connecticut. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN, following a 6-1 victory over Fairfield in the semifinals earlier this week.

Star pitcher Jeremy Katz described the upcoming game as “the biggest game of my life,” expressing hope for a full game and even a shutout in the championship.

Katz, inspired by hometown hero Craig Biggio, emphasized the importance of staying calm and focused, aiming to pitch a complete game and secure a memorable victory.

“We have great pitching, strong hitting, and overall solid play — much more than last year,” said Katz, highlighting the team’s improvement and confidence.

The team’s impressive performance has caught the attention of former Major League Baseball player Frank Catalanotto, who now coaches Hofstra baseball. He expressed optimism about their chances, noting, “They seem to score runs, and I believe they’ll continue playing the same great baseball.”

Local support has surged, with community members hosting watch parties to cheer on the team as they chase their childhood dream.

More Than Just a Game

Manager Scott Santelli, who is also father to team members James and Jack, shared how managing the team has felt like coaching professionals, especially given the summer’s intense spotlight.

He recounted his excitement after the last game, saying, “Doing this with my sons and this team is an experience we’ll talk about forever.”

“Not many fathers get to have this opportunity. I’m simply enjoying every moment with my sons and these players,” Santelli added.
