Exclusive: Simon & Schuster Pauses Al B. Sure!’s Book Over Creative Differences with Diddy
Legal Dispute Over Exclusive Memoir Hits a Snag
A controversial memoir related to rapper Diddy has been halted amid creative disagreements between the author and the publisher. The book, initially announced as “Do You Believe Me Now?”—which promised to reveal intimate details about Diddy, including allegations connecting him to the health crisis of singer Al B. Sure!—is now unavailable for pre-order and has been pulled from sales platforms, with the release date pushed back to December 31, 2050.
The author, Al B. Sure!’s lawyer, explained that Simon & Schuster—originally enthusiastic about the book—wanted more content involving Diddy. However, Sure! preferred to focus on his personal story and claims, which include unsubstantiated allegations of Diddy’s involvement in his 2022 coma and the death of Kim Porter, Diddy’s former partner and Kim Porter’s mother. Sure! and Diddy’s history dates back to 1990 at Uptown Records, where both worked and maintained a complicated relationship involving Porter and their son, Quincy Brown, whom Diddy adopted.
Despite the book’s unavailability, Sure! has expressed hope that a resolution can be achieved with the publisher. His legal representative suggested that interference might have originated from fears of exposing the truth, and hinted at potential investigations involving private investigator Bo Dietl.
Sure! has also been outspoken about his ongoing legal issues and his skepticism regarding the cause of Kim Porter’s death. Meanwhile, Diddy, who has not publicly responded to the allegations, recently faced a court verdict where he was acquitted of sex trafficking but found guilty on charges related to transportation for prostitution. His sentencing is scheduled for October 3.
Both Sure! and Diddy’s relationships remain tense, but the full story behind the memoir and its allegations continues to be a subject of interest and speculation.
