Prince Harry Addresses Sentebale Scandal and Findings

Prince Harry has responded to recent reports regarding the controversy that led to his resignation from Sentebale, an African charity he co-founded in honor of his mother, Princess Diana.

In March, Sentebale’s chairwoman, Dr. Sophie Chandauka, publicly claimed that “misogynoir” — prejudiced bias specifically against Black women — was a key factor in the decision for Harry and the board of trustees to step down. However, a review by the Charity Commission for England and Wales concluded that there was no evidence of widespread bullying, harassment, misogyny, or misogynoir within the organization.

The independent regulator also found no evidence of misconduct by Prince Harry, despite noting some issues with governance and delegation that led to misunderstandings. A spokesperson for Harry emphasized that the charity’s core mission remains strong and that the allegations have caused unjust damage, particularly to the children the charity supports in Lesotho and Botswana.

Harry’s team stated that the report confirmed the governance concerns the charity raised privately earlier this year and condemned Chandauka’s allegations of bullying and harassment. They expressed that her accusations led to significant media attacks, which they described as damaging.

Chandauka previously accused Harry of launching a “damaging” and “scale” harassment campaign against her, which she linked to her claim that the controversy was used to discredit her after a disagreement over losing a major sponsor. Her conduct and accusations have drawn mixed reactions, with some insiders labeling her actions as divisive.

Despite the turmoil, Harry remains committed to the charity’s original mission and plans to explore new ways to support the communities they serve, honoring the legacy he helped build.
