Man City Star Agrees New Contract After 200+ Games in 5 Seasons

Manchester City Star Reaches Preliminary Agreement on New Contract After Over 200 Appearances

Manchester City is set to extend the contract of a key player under coach Pep Guardiola. The club has reportedly agreed in principle to a new deal with Ruben Dias, solidifying his stay at the Etihad Stadium amidst a challenging season.

City aims to rebound after a disappointing 2024-25 campaign that saw them lose nine Premier League matches and finish 13 points behind champions Liverpool. The club has bolstered its roster with over £150 million worth of new signings, including Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, and James Trafford.

Ruben Dias, who joined City from Benfica in 2020 for approximately £65 million, has become a central figure in Guardiola’s team, winning four Premier League titles. His current contract runs until June 2027, and the new agreement is expected to significantly extend his stay.

This extension follows the recent signing of a long-term contract by teammate Erling Haaland earlier this year. Dias has participated in 222 matches for City and is expected to start the upcoming season away at Wolves on August 16.

The defender featured in three of City’s four matches at this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup, including their surprising 4-3 defeat to Saudi side Al-Hilal. Recently, Dias has been enjoying a holiday in Ibiza with his girlfriend, Maya Jama, taking a break from competitive football.

With renewed commitment, Dias’s future appears secure as Manchester City seeks to improve on last season’s results and fight for domestic and European honours.
