Left Coast Arrival: California Post Races to the Rescue

New Publication to Highlight California’s Challenges and Resilience

A new media venture based in Los Angeles is set to launch early next year to shed light on the issues facing California. The California Post aims to provide daily print and online content that features balanced, insightful journalism focusing on the state’s political, social, and economic struggles.

The publication intends to report on the latest news, entertainment, culture, sports, and business from a Californian perspective, criticizing policies that have contributed to the state’s decline—causing businesses and residents to leave in droves. California has recently experienced a decline in its share of the U.S. population, dropping from 12.1% in 2010 to 11.9% in 2020, and is predicted to lose more congressional seats after the next Census, reflecting its shrinking influence.

Since 2020, over 500 companies have either scaled back or left the state, citing regulatory burdens and high costs. The state’s issues include soaring taxes—its top income tax rate stands at the nation’s highest—persistent poverty, and restrictions on development that push housing prices skyward. The California Policy Center reports that the state holds America’s highest unemployment rate, lowest income growth, and highest poverty levels, earning it the title of the worst state for business for ten consecutive years.

Additionally, the green agenda’s costs, combined with widespread homelessness and increasing crime, have fueled public concern. Leaders like LA Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom have faced criticism for their handling of illegal migration and recent civil unrest, exemplified by riots and wildfires, which expose leadership gaps.

Despite these issues, the publication will also highlight California’s natural beauty, diverse demographics, and its global influence in entertainment, technology, agriculture, and sports—traits that continue to define its unique spirit.

The California Post promises to be a voice for honesty and hope amid the many challenges, aiming to reveal stories that matter and celebrate what makes California resilient and iconic.
