Why Meghan Markle’s Staff Stayed Silent Amid Alleged Abuse
Former Staffers of Meghan Markle Fear Retaliation Over Alleged Abuse
Previous employees who worked for Meghan Markle hesitated to speak out against her, fearing potential backlash. Valentine Low, a royal correspondent, revealed that these individuals waited years before sharing their experiences of alleged mistreatment, partly due to concerns about her capacity for revenge.
According to Low, in his book Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown, former staffers believed that “her capacity for revenge is limitless,” which kept them silent for a long time. They felt vulnerable and emotionally fragile after leaving the royal household, still impacted by their tenure.
Low recounted that the women described being “broken” by Markle’s alleged screaming fits. He noted that those who discussed these claims publicly received no legal repercussions, suggesting there might be truth to their accounts. In fact, Markle’s representatives dismissed the allegations, accusing Low of rehashing false claims to boost book sales and increase relevance.
Low pointed out that despite the longstanding silence, he didn’t hear from Markle after publishing the book, which included anonymous staff testimonies. He also mentioned that legal warnings from Markle and Harry’s lawyers before release signaled the sensitivity of these claims.
Markle’s camp insisted the allegations are a “desperate bid” to sell books, and described the accusations as part of a smear campaign. Meanwhile, Markle and Harry continue their lives in Montecito, California, with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
