Who is Robert Shinn, TikTok ‘Cult’ Leader Raided in Sex-Trafficking Probe?
Raids Uncover Allegations Against Cult Leader and Founder of Exploitative Talent Agency
Federal investigators from multiple agencies executed a search warrant at a residence in the Tujunga area of Los Angeles, connected to Pastor Robert Shinn, a figure accused of running a controversial TikTok-focused organization. Several individuals were detained at the scene during the raid, which involved FBI, IRS, Postal Service, and Labor Department agents.
It remains unclear whether Shinn, 87, was among those taken into custody. Shinn is a divisive figure, often described as a cult leader based on past allegations. He established the Shekinah Church in 1994, founded as a Korean-American congregation in LA, and has ties to multiple entertainment and production companies, including 7M Films, Shinn Entertainment, and others.
Shinn promotes a talent agency, 7M Films, claiming it can transform amateur dancers into TikTok stars. However, accusations against him include financial and physical abuse, coercion, and attempts to separate members from their families. Several dancers have come forward with claims of sexual assault and exploitation.
The recent warrants involved accusations of sex trafficking, money laundering, mail fraud, tax evasion, and COVID-19-related scams. Some members reportedly joined the church willingly but later were recruited to serve the organization’s interests, including recruitment roles for 7M. Shinn denies any formal affiliation between his church and the talent agency.
Estimated to be worth around $15 million, Shinn shares ownership of his home with others. His family includes singer-songwriter Kloë Shinn, who left the church in 2022, and two sons, Conrad and Isaiah. His daughter’s music has been featured on popular TV shows and movies, including one produced by her father.
Past legal actions against Shinn include lawsuits alleging manipulation, coercion, unpaid labor, and asset control. Notably, several former members sued him in 2022 for exploitation and labor violations, and past lawsuits have claimed undue influence and forced labor. Shinn has also filed defamation suits against critics, denying claims of misconduct.
Efforts continue to evaluate the full extent of allegations against him and his organizations.
