Suspect Caught on Camera Dousing Dog in Fire in Queens

A shocking crime has been caught on surveillance footage showing an individual dragging a seemingly unresponsive dog onto a Queens street, pouring a flammable liquid on it, and then igniting it. The incident occurred early Thursday morning in South Ozone Park.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered the dog, a brindle pit bull, deceased in the street. An autopsy is underway to confirm whether the dog was already dead or died as a result of the fire.

Footage shows the suspect casually walking past a bodega and a white fence, before pouring the liquid on the dog and setting it ablaze. Authorities have identified him as a man last seen wearing a maroon sweatshirt with a “Polo” logo, gray pants, and a light brown designer MCM backpack, valued between $500 and $1,000.

The suspect was also captured near a residential area, just before the crime. Investigators are urging anyone with information to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline. Tips can be submitted anonymously through their website or via social media.
