Oklahoma Superintendent Under Investigation Over Office TV Incident
Investigation Launched into Oklahoma’s Superintendent Over Alleged Exposure to Explicit Images
The Oklahoma State Department is conducting an inquiry into State Superintendent Ryan Walters following reports that images of nude women appeared on his office’s television during a closed-door meeting last week. The incident reportedly occurred during an executive session of the State Board of Education, with multiple board members claiming they saw explicit content on Walters’ television screen.
One board member described the moment as shocking, recalling how she initially thought the images might be someone wearing tan body suits but quickly realized they depicted nudity. Another member confirmed Walters was unaware of the display at the time, as he was seated with his back turned to the screen, and he did not offer any explanation or apology afterward.
Walters has denied all allegations, asserting they are “categorically false” and labeled the accusations as “falsehoods,” claiming they aim to undermine his efforts. He emphasized his focus on improving Oklahoma’s educational system and dismissed the incident as part of a political attack.
While some members did not see the explicit images firsthand, they noted Walters appeared “shaken” and “embarrassed” after being informed of the incident. Walters, known for his conservative policies, has previously pushed for strict classroom restrictions, including policies targeting LGBTQ+ students and efforts to incorporate the Bible as a “historical document” in public education.
The source of the explicit images remains unknown, and an official investigation is underway led by the Office of Management and Enterprise Services to determine how they appeared on the office system. Walters has yet to provide a response regarding the incident.
