Eric Dane & Girlfriend Janell Shirtcliff Stun on Red Carpet Amid ALS Battle—Must-See Date Night!

Eric Dane Makes First Red Carpet Appearance Since ALS Diagnosis, With New Girlfriend

Eric Dane attended his first public event since revealing his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), accompanied by his new partner, filmmaker Janell Shirtcliff. The couple appeared close and happy as they posed together at the “Countdown” premiere in Los Angeles.

The actor, 52, looked stylish in a cream corduroy outfit paired with white sneakers, while Shirtcliff, 41, opted for a maroon mini dress matched with shades, a Gucci purse, and coordinated heels. Dane mentioned in an interview that he planned to watch the show with Shirtcliff but did not confirm their relationship publicly. However, sources confirmed they have been dating on and off for over three years, and they were spotted on a date night at Chateau Marmont shortly before the event.

Sources shared that Dane and Shirtcliff are “extremely close” and care deeply for each other, with Dane asking her to be there for him during his health struggles. Despite the public display of affection, Dane did not explicitly confirm their relationship during his recent TV interview but expressed appreciation for his ex-wife, Rebecca Gayheart, who has supported him through his battle with ALS. Dane and Gayheart, who share two daughters, separated in 2018 but called off their divorce in March this year.

He revealed that he has lost use of his right arm, describing it as “completely” nonfunctional, but his left arm remains working. Dane emphasized his strong bond with Gayheart, stating, “We’ve become better friends and better parents. She’s my biggest supporter,” adding that they communicate daily.

Diagnosed with ALS in April, Dane shared that he has lost function on his dominant side but still retains some mobility. The disease, a neurodegenerative condition affecting nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, has no known cure. Despite the diagnosis, Dane remains hopeful and supported by loved ones as he navigates this challenging period.
