Gamer Struck by Lightning During Stream in North Carolina (Video)
Gamer Survives Lightning Strike During Livestream
While streaming from his home in North Carolina, a gamer experienced a shocking incident when lightning struck his house during a storm. The event was caught on camera, showing a bright bolt illuminating his room through the window.
The streamer, known as “Chrispymate,” was in the middle of his broadcast on July 19 when lightning struck nearby, and a flash lit up his room. As the lightning hit, he was jolted out of his chair, pulled his headphones out, and dashed across the room in alarm.
During the chaos, an audible crackle was heard on the stream as the electrical current traveled through his wiring and equipment. He later explained to his viewers, “Bro, I just got struck by lightning,” adding he would stop streaming for safety reasons. He recounted feeling lightning go through his earbuds as the bolt struck nearby.
Although rare, lightning can strike within a home without causing catastrophic damage, as seen in this incident. It is a reminder of how electrical currents can travel through cables, plumbing, and devices, including headphones connected to computers.
Lightning strikes can have devastating consequences; recently, a lightning incident in New Jersey resulted in one death and injured 13 others, including children. One young boy, Ryan Coopey, suffered second-degree burns when lightning shredded his socks and shoes during a storm.
