Missing Grenade at LA Sheriff Training Explosion Kills 3
Missing Grenade After Deadly Explosion at LA Sheriff’s Training Facility
An explosive device, specifically a grenade, has gone missing following a tragic blast at a Los Angeles County sheriff’s department training site that resulted in the deaths of three deputies.
The incident occurred during a training exercise involving two grenades that had been confiscated by authorities. One of these grenades unexpectedly detonated, causing a fatal explosion, while the other has not been accounted for, as confirmed by Sheriff Robert Luna. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
The blast took the lives of three experienced deputies from the department’s arson and explosives team. Emergency responders responded quickly to the scene, which was heavily examined for any additional hazards or evidence.
Authorities have thoroughly searched the area, including inspecting special enforcement bureau vehicles, examining the entire blast site, and reviewing office and gym spaces. Sheriff Luna stated that all possibilities have been considered and that no members of the public had access to the area at the time of the incident.
Despite extensive searches, the missing grenade remains unlocated, raising concerns over security and safety protocols following the deadly event.
