Kaylee Goncalves’ Sister Confronts Bryan Kohberger at Sentencing: ‘No Humanity’
Victim’s Sister Denounces Killer During Sentencing
The sister of Kaylee Goncalves, a victim in the Idaho college murders, described feeling an urgent instinct to escape when she faced Bryan Kohberger during his sentencing, but chose instead to deliver a powerful statement condemning him.
“I felt a primal alarm, like my body told me to run,” Alivea Goncalves shared. “It was as if I came face-to-face with an alien — there’s no humanity behind his eyes.”
Determined to confront Kohberger, Alivea described her anger and resolve, emphasizing her desire to keep her sister’s memory alive by naming the victims aloud. She explicitly called him a “sociopath” and criticized his actions, even telling him to “sit up straight” in the courtroom.
“If you hadn’t attacked them in their sleep, Kaylee would have fought back,” she said, igniting applause from the audience. “Disappointments like you thrive on pain and fear, but I refuse to feed that beast. Instead, I will call you what you are: sociopath, murderer.”
Her father’s words, spoken earlier, gave her courage. “He seemed to give me wings,” she explained. “I thought, screw it — I’m doing this, no matter what.”
Throughout her speech, Kohberger maintained a blank expression, occasionally glancing at her with what she described as a “sick pleasure.” Despite her emotional delivery, he chose silence when asked for a comment, declining to speak and being sentenced to life without parole.
Alivea expressed her readiness to face the court and emphasized her resolve to honor her sister’s memory, refusing to be silenced or intimidated.
