Ryan Reynolds Drops Cryptic Clue in Shocking Legal Battle—What’s Really Going On?
During a panel at Cannes Lions 2025, Ryan Reynolds made a humorous remark related to Blake Lively’s recent legal disputes. While engaging with the audience, he joked about a legal battle involving Lively and Justin Baldoni, referencing it in a playful manner.
At the outdoor event, Reynolds was seen pouring water for fans to beat the heat. He invited them to come onto the stage, joking, “I’m not throwing this; you can walk up here and grab it.” Reynolds, known for his role in “Deadpool,” was promoting Wrexham, the Welsh football club he co-owns with Rob McElhenney. Despite starting with limited soccer knowledge, he has become a passionate football enthusiast.
“I used to be so tense during matches,” Reynolds said. “I’d pace like I had rabies, clocking 8,000 steps. That’s when I knew I was a fan… now I love the sport so much I hate it.” He shared how the sport, and the collective spirit it fosters, helps bridge divisions.
“We live in a world obsessed with identity politics, almost a religion,” he remarked. “Sports, theater, and music allow us to come together and share collective energy—French call it ‘collective effervescence.’ It’s a bonding experience, almost like oxytocin with a baby. It’s beautiful to witness unity amid division.”
Besides his interest in football, Reynolds owns the Australian SailGP team, Flying Roos, alongside Hugh Jackman. He commented on the trend of celebrities purchasing sports teams and expressed a humorous concern about NFL star Tom Brady’s entry into international soccer through an investment in Birmingham City, joking, “I just hope he’s allowed to play—I don’t want him on the field.”
