Doctor Reveals Truth Behind Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s Rescue and Passing
Actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner Drowns in Costa Rica Ocean
A medical professional involved in Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s rescue has shared details about the distressing incident. The doctor, who requested anonymity, was approximately 200 meters away when he heard cries for help from the beach in Playa Grande and quickly responded.
There were very few people on the beach that day, likely due to rough sea conditions. Hearing screams, he grabbed his surfboard and paddled into the water, heading towards a high current where the distress was coming from. After spotting a shadow beneath the surface, he dove in and pulled Warner out of the rip current.
When he arrived with Warner, who had been caught by the strong current, he found another man struggling to breathe on the sand. First responders attempted to revive Warner with equipment including a defibrillator, but sadly, he showed no vital signs and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other man was taken to a medical facility in critical condition but was later released.
The coast’s authorities clarified that Warner’s 8-year-old daughter was not in the water during the drowning; she was on the shore. The Costa Rican Judicial Investigation Agency confirmed that Warner’s death resulted from “asphyxiation by submersion.”
Lifeguards were not present at the time, attributed to limited resources, and the beach is recognized as one of the country’s most challenging due to its dangerous conditions and frequent rip currents.
