Bally’s Secret Move to Win Casino Bid at Trump Golf Course Site—You Won’t Believe This!
Bally’s has overcome a key obstacle in its bid for a gaming license to develop a casino adjacent to its Ferry Point golf course in The Bronx.
New York State Governor Kathy Hochul approved legislation on June 13, allowing the conversion of designated parkland at Ferry Point for use as a casino and other commercial purposes. This move was crucial as applications for the casino license are due by June 27.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to engage with the Bronx community, local officials, and small business leaders to share our vision for what could be the largest economic project in Bronx history,” said Bally’s chairman Soo Kim.

This project is expected to create thousands of jobs, offering extensive economic benefits to the Bronx and New York City.
To proceed, Bally’s needed approval for the parkland alienation, which was achieved to qualify for one of several available casino licenses in the region, with the application deadline set for June 27.
In 2023, Bally’s took over the lease of the Ferry Point golf course, previously owned by the Trump Organization, and now plans to develop a 500,000-square-foot casino there. The project also includes a 500-room hotel with spa and meeting facilities, retail outlets, a 2,000-seat event center, and two parking garages accommodating up to 4,660 vehicles.

While legislative approval has been granted, further zoning approvals from the Bronx City Council are still required, which presents a challenge. Notably, Bronx Community Board 10 voted heavily against the zoning changes, and some local officials and community members oppose the project despite Democratic support.
The project’s approval remains uncertain, with opposition from certain council members and community groups, reflecting ongoing debates over the development’s impact and benefits.
