US Attorney John Sarcone Faces Knife-Wielding Illegal Salvadoran Migrant Threatening to Slit His Throat!
A US Attorney in New York was reportedly chased and threatened on the streets of Albany by an illegal immigrant wielding a knife, threatening to slit his throat, according to prosecutors.
John Sarcone, the US Attorney for the Northern District of New York, was approached outside the Hilton Hotel in Albany by Saul Morales-Garcia, an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador with a criminal record and prior deportation, as reported by local news sources citing prosecutors.
Morales-Garcia, 40, reportedly aggressively advanced toward Sarcone with a knife, gesturing he would slit his throat, and chased him down the street just before 10 p.m., according to police statements. Fortunately, Sarcone was unharmed, and nearby sheriff’s deputies quickly detained Morales-Garcia after the incident.
He had a prior felony conviction in El Salvador and had been deported at least once before, authorities said. It’s unclear when he entered the US or where he crossed the border.
Officials described the encounter as a “random street incident.” Morales-Garcia remains in custody on attempted second-degree murder charges and is held without bail, as reported by local news outlets.
He faces charges related to the threat and attack, and authorities emphasized the seriousness of such cases. Sarcone, a native New Yorker, was appointed to his position in March. The incident underscores ongoing concerns about immigration enforcement and public safety.
The Department of Homeland Security has not yet issued a comment.
