Trump’s Presidency Faces Crisis as Approval Plummets to New Low

Trump’s Approval Ratings Drop to Historic Lows

Donald Trump’s favorability has taken a nosedive, reaching its lowest point in his current presidency. Recent polling indicates that his approval rating has fallen to just 37%, only slightly above his historic low of 34% at the end of his first term. Since the start of his second term, his support has declined by 10 percentage points among all American adults, with independents showing the most significant decrease of 17 points, bringing their approval to 29%—a level not seen before in either of his presidencies.

In terms of policy and performance, Trump’s ratings are generally poor across multiple issues. He has performed relatively better on foreign affairs related to Iran (42%) and overall foreign policy (41%), but scores are lower on key domestic issues. His approval on immigration stands at 38%, the economy at 37%, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict at 36%. His handling of the Ukraine situation and federal budget rating are particularly low, at 33% and 29%, respectively.

This decline in support is reportedly influencing efforts to redraw districts, such as in Texas, in an attempt to gain more Republican seats amid poor polling numbers, which signal a potential electoral “bloodbath” for the incumbent party in upcoming midterms.

The recent legislative efforts, branded as the One Big Beautiful Bill, have only worsened the GOP’s predicament. Trump’s approval ratings for critical issues like immigration and trade are entrenched in the thirties, with no issue where he maintains a positive rating. Analysts suggest he could be one of the most unpopular and ineffective presidents in U.S. history, with support levels possibly declining further.

Many see Republicans’ continued backing of Trump as akin to sailing into disaster—blindly heading toward an iceberg of electoral defeat.
