NFL Rookie Travis Hunter’s Father Arrested in Florida for Probation Violation
Father of NFL Prospect Travis Hunter Arrested for Probation Violation
The father of NFL rookie and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter has been taken into custody for breaching his probation conditions. The arrest followed a court report indicating his GPS monitoring device was disconnected for approximately 11 minutes on June 28.
A warrant was issued for Travis Hunter Sr. on July 10 after authorities confirmed they temporarily lost track of him amid the monitoring failure. The incident occurred in Palm Beach, Florida, where he was detained and is now held without bond at the West Palm Beach jail.
Hunter Sr., 39, who is on probation related to prior charges for drugs and firearms, triggered alarms when his tracking bracelet signaled it had been removed between 8:07 and 8:18 p.m. on the noted date. In subsequent interviews, he claimed the device was in one room while he was in another, and later said he had misplaced it and was searching for it. Testing of the device three days later confirmed it was functioning properly.
Authorities reported that during his contact with probation officials, Hunter Sr. explained he was moving too quickly and forgot to reattach the monitor. Court records show he failed to adhere to the conditions of his probation, which included electronic monitoring.
Hunter Sr. was initially arrested in 2023 following a traffic stop where authorities found guns and drugs in his vehicle. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail and placed on three years of probation, including a year of house arrest.
Despite his legal issues, Hunter Sr. was permitted to attend the NFL Draft this year, where his son Travis was picked second overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Earlier in his life, he was unable to attend Travis’s Heisman ceremony in New York but received approval to witness his son’s NFL debut in Green Bay.
