Florida Driver Yells ‘Psych!’ at Cop, Crashes Into 18-Wheeler
Man Crashes Sports Car After Mocking Police During Traffic Stop
In a reckless act of defiance, a man in Miami attempted to mock police during a traffic stop, only to find himself crashing his sports car into a semi-truck shortly afterward.
Identified as 42-year-old Eduardo Barbaro Gonzalez, the incident began when an officer observed Gonzalez allegedly involved in a drug transaction in a shopping center parking lot around 11 p.m. Wednesday. Recognizing the situation, the officer approached, but Gonzalez quickly started his car and tried to flee.
According to police reports, Gonzalez, who was on probation with eight active warrants for various offenses, laughed and exclaimed “Hahaha, psych!” as he punched the gas and sped away, tires screeching. The officer then positioned his cruiser to block Gonzalez’s path, attempting to communicate with him. Gonzalez responded with a loud laugh and sped off, ignoring the officer’s instructions.
As Gonzalez sped through the streets, he blew through a stop sign and collided with an 18-wheeler about two blocks from the initial scene. The crash injured Gonzalez, who attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers due to a leg injury.
He was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he initially provided a false name and date of birth. Once identified via fingerprints, authorities confirmed he had eight active warrants and was wanted for fleeing police and eluding arrest.
Gonzalez is now facing multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding police, resisting arrest, violating probation warrants, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, cocaine possession, and grand theft. His reckless actions highlight the dangers of defying law enforcement officers.
