Tragic Death of Nine-Year-Old Melina Frattolin Confirmed by Autopsy

Melina Frattolin, a nine-year-old girl from Montreal, died by drowning after being found in a shallow pond in Ticonderoga. Her body was discovered less than a day after her father, Luciano Frattolin, initially reported her missing and later claimed she had been abducted.

The preliminary autopsy revealed that Melina died from asphyxia caused by drowning. The investigation indicates her death was a homicide. Her body was recovered after authorities traced her father’s movements, who was seen driving along I-87 Northway shortly before her body was found.

Law enforcement arrested Luciano Frattolin following his false report of abduction. He is now charged with his daughter’s murder and the concealment of a corpse. Police released images of him driving in the area, seeking assistance from the public to determine his route during the known times.

In addition to his arrest, authorities shared photos of his vehicle, a gray 2024 Toyota Prius, as part of their efforts to piece together his movements around the time of the incident.
